Alcatraz East Crime Museum - the newest attraction in Pigeon Forge, so excitng it took up 5 hours of our day – and left everybody wanting MORE – three were still things we wanted to read and explore! We took the whole family, including kids aged 12-19 -- we spent hours upon hours reading the various crime stories -- all laid out in five different galleries: History of Crime, Crime Scene Investigation (very hands on), The Consequence of Crime, Crime Fighting and Pop Culture. Overall, there was lots of hands on activities to keep my 12 year old interested while the rest of us read and watched the videos along the way. We had the most fun with the cop cars as you can tell from the photos! Many real artifacts - including a room on 9/11 with a moving video experience as well as the actual OJ white Ford bronco used in "the chase" in LA.
If you are going - Best advice is to go on a full stomach and earlier in the day so that you can stay and enjoy as much as you can! Second bit of advice is the upgrade to the The Heist lazer maze experience – I"m very competitive and loved challenging my family -- I felt like James Bond jumping over and rolling under the lazer beams in the mission to get across the room.
This is the only Crime museum in our area, this one actually was originally located in Washington DC and has now been moved and expanded to over 25,000 square feet! Located right near The Island – it offers free parking and it’s easily accessible on foot from many attractions – and just a block down from our hotel at The Arbors. If you are going -- eat first -- truly, you will want to spend HOURS here ... so much to take in and experience - one of the highlights of our trip!
